Emily is a medical student, currently on a research year between her third and fourth year. She works closely with Jeff both in the lab, studying how chemokine receptors signal in B and T cells, and in the clinic. She plans to apply for Dermatology residency in the 2025-2026 residency application cycle.
Ari Hilibrand

Ari completed his Harvard College senior thesis under my guidance, graduating summa cum laude . For his research on GPCR signaling pathways he earned the prestigious Harvard Maurice M. Pechet Award for a promising physician-scientist, among numerous other honors. He matriculated at Harvard Medical School as part of the entering class of 2024.
Joyce Kang
Harvard MD/PhD Student
Joyce is an MD/PhD student (MD though the Harvard/MIT HST program and PhD in Bioinformatics & Integrative Genomics), completing her thesis in the Raychaudhuri Laboratory. Joyce co-led a project, currently under review, assessing the risk of infection in patients with systemic sclerosis. She is applying into Dermatology in the 2024-2025 match cycle.
Katherine Nabel Smith, MD, PhD

Dr. Smith completed her MD/PhD training at Harvard, conducting her thesis with Dr. Jonathan Abraham. As a medical student, she worked closely with me in the clinic and co-led a project, currently under review, assessing the risk of infection in patients with systemic sclerosis.
Jessica Orofino

Jessica is a medical student, currently on a research year between her third and fourth year. Through a variety of modalities, she is studying G-protein coupled receptors, nanobody development, and autoimmune disorders, working closely with Jeff both in the lab and clinic. She plans to apply for Dermatology residency in the 2026-2027 residency application cycle.
About Jeff
Jeff was born and raised in Washington State and attended the University of Washington for his undergraduate studies. While there, he worked in the laboratory of Charles Chavkin, focusing on opioid pharmacology. He subsequently matriculated into Duke University’s MD/PhD program, where he studied GPCR signaling under the mentorship of Sudar Rajagopal and 2012 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Robert Lefkowitz. After a medicine internship, Jeff joined the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Program/Massachusetts General Hospital, completing his residency in 2023. During residency, he joined Andrew Kruse’s lab in 2022 in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School. Currently, Jeff is a faculty member at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he provides care for patients with rare autoimmune skin diseases one-half day per week, specializing in systemic sclerosis, cutaneous lupus, and dermatomyositis.
